Ski –mountaineering at Karly Tau Peak, 5450 m and Marble Wall Peak, 6400 m

Driving from Almaty 280 km.\ 5 hours to Karkara Base Camp, 2200 m. Accommodation in spacious 2-persons tents or 6-persons yurts. Dinner.

A helicopter flight to the North Inylchek BC, 4000 m. In flight, we will see green valleys, rivers and many peaks and glaciers of the Sary Zhas and Tengri Tag ridges. Walk along the glacier to the foot of the 3 km North Face of Khan Tengri peak. Consultations.

5 km (2-3 hours) hike to the headwaters of the Northern Inylchek glacier to the ABC (4250 m.) with the view to the picturesque glacier (“icefall”) flowing down the Karly Tau plateau. After rest, we will make a training (“acclimatization”) climb along the slope of Karly Tau peak to an altitude of 4600 (2-3 hours). Enjoy the panorama of the surrounding ice peaks Kazakhstan 5761 m, Marble Wall 6400 m, Przhevalsky 6370 m, Shatyor 6500 m and of course Khan Tengri! Descent to the glacier. Overnight at the ABC.

Climbing to the top of Karly Tau begins late at night at 04:00. From the already known place of yesterday’s climb, we climb the ice slope with a steepness of 30-35 degrees using crampons and fixed ropes. We meet the sunrise on the edge of the ice plateau at an altitude of 4750 m at 07:00. After a short rest, against the backdrop of a grandiose panorama of ice giants exceeding 6000 m, we get up on skis, cross the snowy plateau of Karly Tau (2 km) and get to the 5000 m pass at 09:00. We climb the snow ridge to the top by 10:00. The 360-degree panorama is even “cooler” than anything seen. Careful skiing down a steep (39-35 *) pre-summit ridge and wide turns to the edge of the plateau. Then we go left and down almost to the glacier. A descent of about 4.5 km with stops for photos and videos will take an hour. By dinner, we are already at the ABC, 4250m.

Exploration of the route to the slopes of Marble Wall Peak. Fixing of ropes is recommended. Overnight at the camp, 4250m.

Ascent to Camp 2, 5200 m. along the ice-rocky slope 400 m. Overnight.

Climbing the snow ridge to the slopes, by passing the crevasse to Camp 3, 5800 m. Overnight.

Ascent to the top and descent to Camp2, 5200 m.
